ISIDA clinic's doctor Svetlana Shiyanova visited the European Academy of Gynaecological Surgery in Belgium
In November 21-24, 2017, Head of the Infertility Treatment Department at ISIDA clinic, reproductive specialist Svetlana Shiyanova visited the European Academy of Gynaecological Surgery in Leuven, Belgium. In late November, there was a workshop "Endoscopy in reproductive medicine." For several decades, The European Academy of Gynaecological Surgery has been providing an opportunity for experts from all around the world to receive certification after training on scientifically based standarts in gynecological endoscopy.
Through intensive research, the Academy and its affiliates in Cyprus, Paraguay, South Africa and Asia have developed a unique structured curriculum, known as the GESEA program. This program was adopted and supported by European and North American leading communities on gynecology and, undoubtedly, became a milestone in improving the quality of teaching modern endoscopic surgery.
This year, for the first time in the history of the Academy, the presentation and training course was organized jointly with the ESHRE Campus Symposium.
"The workshop in Belgium once again stressed the importance of endoscopic diagnostics and surgery in reproductive medicine, - says Svetlana Shiyanova. - Fertility specialists from different countries of the world were given the opportunity to undergo practical training in laparoscopic surgery and ultrasound, listen to lectures on diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy, transvaginal laparoscopy, operative endoscopy for myomectomy, endometriosis, intrauterine pathology and other problems in reproductive health."
Special attention of all participants was drawn by lectures and practical classes of such legends in the field of fertility science as Stephan Gordes (Belgium), Vasilios Thanos (Cyprus), Gregoris Grimbisis (Greece), Catherine Exaustos (Italy). Lecture and practical session in ultrasound delivered by Sotirios Saravelos (Great Britain) once again emphasized the high importance of ultrasound research in 3D mode.
"The workshop organized in Belgium was very interesting because the lectures were alternated with trainings on simulators, allowing to solidify theoretical knowledge in practice, - Svetlana Shiyanova continued her story. – A very pleasant atmosphere occurred in lecture halls and training operating rooms - the education was held in the form of a dialogue. The lecturer brought up the topic and those present were lively at work - asking questions, sharing experiences, looking for answers to the questions posed together. All participants of the workshop went home, to their own clinics, with the understanding that they can give their patients more and that their professional level has become higher."
