A reference in Human Reproduction, Cenafert – Center for Reproductive Medicine was inaugurated in June 2002 in the neighborhood of Ondina, in Salvador, with the mission of ensuring comprehensive care for infertile patients, who currently represent about 15 to 20% of the population of childbearing age. The clinic founded and directed by the gynecologist and specialist in reproductive medicine, Joaquim Roberto Costa Lopes, has as partners the doctors Gérsia Viana, Sofia Andrade, Valentia Cotrim and the embryologist Janaina Mendes Santos.

Since its foundation, the clinic has enabled more than three thousand “test tube babies” to come into the world through various assisted reproduction techniques, such as in Vitro Fertilization and Intrauterine Insemination.

Cenafert has a multidisciplinary team formed by gynecologists, specialists in reproductive medicine, psychologists, anesthetists, andrologists, embryologists, biomedical doctors, nurses and the entire care and administrative team, prepared to offer the best experience to patients.

The Center's specialists provide assistance to infertile patients, from treating simpler cases solved with less complex treatment to those that require the use of the most advanced techniques in the field of assisted reproduction. The clinic has a surgical center, beds and operates as a Day Hospital to perform various procedures that require a short stay.

In addition to relying on a network of specialists and partner laboratories, Cenafert provides national and foreign Ova and Semen Banks with a wide range of donors to meet the needs of future parents. In the field of reproductive genetics, one of the most recent advances already available at Cenafert is the genetic study of the non-invasive embryo (no biopsy).

The non-invasive niPGT-A test allows you to assess the chromosomal health of embryos so that healthy embryos are selected for implantation.

The test is especially suitable for women with a history of miscarriage or elderly people and people with a family history of genetic diseases. The clinic is certified with the Gold Seal of RedLara – Red Latinoamericana de Reproducción Asistida, a scientific and educational institution, which brings together more than 90% of the centers that perform assisted reproduction techniques in Latin America. Accreditation attests that Cenafert operates within the strict international standards of quality, safety and efficacy of a reproductive medicine center.
