Our mission puts at the center of our activities the population and the fact of being able to assure them the best hospital assistance at adequate costs throughout the cantonal territory:

• offering basic care, as well as a wide range of specialist services (including some areas of highly specialized medicine), in order to satisfy the needs of the population in the somatic-acute, rehabilitative and post-acute sectors;
• contributing to the basic and continuous training of professionals who directly and indirectly ensure patient care. The training commitment is destined to grow with the Masters in Human Medicine and the Nursing Master;
• promoting research as the basis of development and innovation in medicine, creating the framework conditions for carrying out clinical and translational research and providing its own contribution to the progress of science and medical and nursing techniques.

Vision

Towards the national and university cantonal hospital
The vision for the 2018-2021 four-year period consolidates the cantonal hospital dimension which is based on the concept of multisite and which sees the EOC recognized among the Swiss hospitals that provide basic services as well as specialist services highly complex. In parallel, it projects the EOC towards the university dimension. With the University of Italian Switzerland, the EOC intends to build the path that will lead it to be counted among the university structures.
