The Fertius provides the updated always available techniques for treating Assisted Human Reproduction, which can be divided into low or high complexity procedures. The first baby in vitro fertilization (IVF), named Louise Brown, was born on July 25, 1978 at 11:47 pm weighing 2,608 kg at Oldham General Hospital in Oldham, England, by Caesarean section. This has only been possible after research conducted since 1966 by Dr Patrick Steptoe, a gynecologist at Oldham General Hospital, and Dr Robert Edwards, a physiologist at Cambridge University. IVF is one of the most advanced assisted reproduction techniques and the one that produces the best success rates, when compared to low complexity techniques, such as programmed intercourse and intrauterine insemination. To perform this procedure, the woman receives different types of medication for ovarian stimulation, usually with higher doses of FSH than those with low complexity, in order to obtain a greater number of recruited oocytes.
