MBRRACE–UK Perinatal Mortality Surveillance 2015 Report Launch Meeting 2017

DESCRIPTION:

This meeting will launch the 3rd MBRRACE-UK Perinatal Mortality Surveillance Report of Deaths for Births from January to December 2015. Findings of the perinatal mortality surveillance, the methods used for data collection and analysis will be presented for 2015 data and for the 2013–2015 data together. The day will also include a discussion of the most appropriate ways for MBRRACE–UK to present and analyze data in the future including alternative approaches to accessing the data with an opportunity for input from the audience. ‘MBRRACE–UK’ is the collaboration appointed by the Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership (HQIP) to run the national Maternal, Newborn and Infant clinical Outcome Review Programme (MNI-CORP) which continues the national programme of work conducting surveillance and investigating the causes of maternal deaths, stillbirths and infant deaths. The aim of the MNI–CORP MBRRACE–UK programme is to provide robust national information to support the delivery of safe, equitable, high quality, patient-centered maternal, newborn and infant health services. MBRRACE–UK is a collaboration led from the National Perinatal Epidemiology Unit (NPEU) at the University of Oxford by Professor Jenny Kurinczuk. The Infant Mortality & Morbidity Studies (TIMMS) lead the perinatal aspects of the work. The aim of MBRRACE–UK is to provide robust information to support the delivery of safe, equitable, high quality, patient-centered maternal, newborn and infant health services. The MBRRACE–UK programme of work comprises national surveillance of late fetal losses, stillbirths and infant deaths, confidential enquiries into perinatal mortality and serious infant morbidity and the national Confidential Enquiry into Maternal Deaths.

MBRRACE–UK achieves this by: (1) surveillance of all maternal deaths; (2) confidential enquiries into maternal deaths during and up to one year after the end of the pregnancy; (3) confidential enquiries into cases of serious maternal morbidity on a rolling basis; (4) surveillance of perinatal deaths including late fetal losses (22–23 weeks gestation), stillbirths and neonatal deaths; (5) confidential enquiries into stillbirths, infant deaths and cases of serious infant morbidity on a rolling basis.

The scope MNI–CORP is a national programme which encompasses England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man.
