1992 –– Establishment of the gynaecologist´s practice Dr. Döhmen in Mönchengladbach. 1996 –– Recognition of the “Facultative Further Education of Gynaecological Endocrinology and Reproduction Medicine” of Dr. Döhmen. 1997 –– Granting of approval in accordance with article121 a SGB V for carrying out methods of artificial insemination and the building up of an IVF unit. 1998 –– Establishment of the joint practice, Direction of the IVF laboratory: Dr. Ralf Böhm. First pregnancies through IVF or ICSI therapy, cryopreservation of ovules in the pronuclear stadium, sperm and testicular tissue. First pregnancy after cryo cycle and TESE/ICSI treatment. 1999 –– Introduction of the assisted hatching method for the transfer of certain embryos. The building up of a quality management system according to DIN EN ISO 9001 for the practice and IVF laboratory. The carrying out of 400 child–wish therapies (IVF, ICSI and cryo cycles). 2000 –– Certification of the quality management system. The carrying out of 600 child-wish therapies (IVF, ICSI and cryo cycles). 2001 –– The carrying out of 750 child-wish therapies (IVF, ICSI and cryo cycles). 2002 –– The carrying out of 800 child-wish therapies with an above-average clinical pregnancy rate of over 33% (IVF or ICSI cycles). 2003 –– The carrying out of 1000 child-wish therapies with an above-average clinical pregnancy rate of over 30% (IVF or ICSI cycles). 2004 –– Since January 1st 2004 we are able to carry out a diagnostic mirroring of the cavity of the uterus (Hysteroscopy) in our centre. Furthermore, one of the new services is the therapy with donated sperm in the form of a Heterologous insemination (AID) and respectively In-vitro-fertilisation (heterologous-IVF). In the year 2004 our child wish centre has achieved (like in the years before) far above-average clinical pregnancy rates/transfer (IVF: 32,4% resp. ICSI: 34,4%). Philosophy: we regard ourselves as a performance-orientated provider of highly specialised services in the area of reproduction medicine. It is always our aim to supply the best possible quality, high standards and constantly high success rates taking into consideration the social and medical well-being of the future child. The decisive factor or our work is the satisfaction of our patients, our co-operation partner and our practice team. The measures of implementation for this are: the best, comprehensive patient information for therapy and the organisation of the therapy; accessibility at anytime and openness for question and the provision of aid by telephone and the creation of an appropriate atmosphere; information events for patients and interested persons; written information about the current standards of treatment; close co-operation with associated disciplines such as andrology, psychology and genetics; a high level of commitment of all staff members and constant maintenance of the philosophy by the members of the practice. We are a gynaecologists’ practice with the main points of emphasis on reproductive medicine and gynaecological endocrinology and are fully specialised in the diagnosis and therapy of undesired childlessness. It is always our aim to use the most modern scientific findings and methods. To this end, we have undertaken to introduce a quality management system according to DIN EN ISO 9001 for the practice and IVF laboratory.
