Many people confuse artificial insemination with fecundation in vitro because of thinking that it is the question of the same technique, but they are quite different in method, cost and tax of success.

The artificial or intrauterine insemination consists in stimulating the ovulation of the woman through a hormonal treatment and then transferring the semen (liquid that contains the spermatozoa) previously gathered and worked in laboratory for the uterine cavity in the moment of the ovulation. With this technique, the fertilization takes place spontaneously inside the body of the woman. It is a cheaper method and it has a rate of pregnancy of nearly 15 %. To carry out the insemination it is necessary that the woman has at least a healthy horn. The couples that benefit of this technique are those who present alterations in the cervical mucus, infertility inexplicada and light alterations in the sperm.
