In the treatment with artificial insemination the semen is put inside the womb on the day of the ovulation. For so much it is necessary that the woman has his healthy horns. The used semen belongs of the husband. Meantime, be cases in which the husband does not produce spermatozoa (azoospermia), in them the bank of semen can be used. Before the insemination proceeding, it is recommended that the patient takes medications to stimulate his ovulation, increasing so his pregnancy chances.

The evolution of the follicles (small bags with ova inside) is controlled by Ultrassonografia determining the moment of the ovulation. On this day the couple attends the clinic and a sample of sêmem is colhetado of the husband. This sample is prepared and the best spermatozoa are selected.

The selected sample can be put in several points of the feminine genital appliance and the name of the insemination depends on the chosen place (ex. Inside the womb = intrauterine; inside the horns = Intra-tubárea, etc.)

The patient stays in gynecological position and a catheter (a fine and long plastic tube), containing the prepared semen, is put inside the womb and the spermatozoa are injected. The patient remains in rest for some minutes and then it is released to go away. Between 12 to 15 days after the insemination we will know if the pregnancy took place.
