Family Balancing is the term used for gender selection. It is a process which is performed to achieve more balanced representation of both genders in a family. For example, if a couple has a daughter and desires a son or vice versa, family balancing can help in selecting the desired gender. By utilizing technology called Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) that involves testing the chromosomal make-up of an embryo, only the embryo(s) of the desired gender are returned to the patient’s uterus, ensuring great accuracy.

With today’s advanced reproductive technologies, identifying the gender of your embryos before pregnancy is possible through IVF and Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), sometimes referred to as Pre-Implantation Genetic Diagnosis or PGD. The combined method of NGS and IVF is the most accurate method available today, with accuracy nearing 100%, making Family Balancing safe and effective for the couple.

There are three options for PGD—NGS—IVF cycle for family balancing:

Option 1
Time frame: approximately 21 days in Dubai.
You will need to spend approximately 21 days to complete a conventional PGD—NGS—IVF cycle with a Blastocyst Transfer on Day 5 (Day 0 is the day of Egg Retrieval Procedure) in the ovarian stimulated cycle and after the embryo transfer, you can fly back home.

Option 2
Time frame: Two visits in Dubai: first visit’s duration is 12 nights (*starting from DAY 2 of your period) plus 1 day for actual embryo transfer (for the second time) = approximately 13 days in Dubai
Depending on your ovarian response (in case of hyper-response or low AMH), our ACCU—VIT protocol may be suggested, that necessary mandates coming to Dubai twice to complete your treatment cycle; first time for 12 nights (*starting from DAY 2 of your period). The first visit in Dubai includes pre—treatment screening and testing, designing and drafting the flexible treatment protocol, starting and completing controlled ovarian stimulation cycle, monitoring the ovarian stimulation via ultrasound scans and via measuring the hormonal levels in your blood samples, trigger shot, pre—scheduling egg retrieval procedure, scheduling egg retrieval procedure, and actual egg retrieval procedure. In cases with low AMH, we can run the egg retrieval cycle more than one time to collect the necessary number of oocytes and to fertilize them so that they will turn in embryos. Or the eggs (oocytes) and your husband’s sperm will be vitrified (frozen). *Vitrification is the cutting-edge freezing technique that boosts the vitality of frozen oocytes, frozen sperm and frozen embryos. In a subsequent month when your ovaries are back to their normal size, your endometrium is prepared for the embryo transfer procedure with a cycle of estrogen and progesterone pills and you come to Dubai only for one day for completing your IVF cycle with actual embryo transfer procedure. There are no additional costs for the Patient/couple for this two-step treatment protocol. It is designed for you to help you get pregnant in the shortest possible timeline with the highest pregnancy rates.

Option 3
Time frame: Two visits in Dubai: first visit’s duration is 1 night (*only for egg retrieval procedure) plus 1 day for actual embryo transfer (for the second time) = approximately 2 days in Dubai
Segmented IVF cycle, where the Patient/couple needs to come only for 1 night for egg retrieval procedure and only for 1 night for actual embryo transfer procedure. For this short-stay option we need to coordinate with your OB/GYN or Reproductive Endocrinologist or your RE/OB/GYN from your city. Your local Fertility Specialist (in your city) should have extensive experience in transvaginal follicular studies and ovarian stimulation (to perform the controlled ovarian stimulation cycle in your city) plus your Fertility Specialist will work in cooperation with our Medical Team in Dubai for monitoring (1) your ovarian stimulation and follicle development for egg retrieval procedure that will be performed in Dubai, and (2) your endometrial preparation for the actual embryo transfer procedure that will be completed in Dubai. We use the WhatsApp digital platform for getting in touch with the Patient/Couple and with their Fertility Specialist who monitors the Patient/couple at home city. WhatsApp application helps Millennium Medical Center MMCIVF Team and the Patient’s or the couple’s Fertility Expert to be “online” all the time for discussing everything that is going on in the treatment cycle and for implementing necessary changes in time. All Patients who undergo this IVF cycle are constantly monitored by our Leading Physician Dr Allahbadia and are monitored under his supervision. The constant monitoring is implemented for the complete transparency in the treatment process and keep all Patients well informed about the progress. There are no additional costs for the Patient/couple for this two-step treatment protocol. It is designed for you to help you get pregnant in the shortest possible timeline with the highest pregnancy rates.

To start any IVF cycle, we need:
—full name of the Patient (of the couple);
— WhatsApp cell number;
— Marriage certificate or notarized judicial document certifying that the couple is husband and wife.

Our PGD—NGS—IVF bundle costs AED 40000. This fee has to be paid before the egg retrieval procedure and this fee does not cover pre—treatment screening and testing and medications.

The cost of pre—treatment screening and testing plus stimulation medications (fertility medications, ovarian stimulative injections) is between AED 5000 — AED 9000 (*depending on your age and your AMH level — the blood test that indicates your ovarian reserve). You can also do all pre—treatment screening and testing at your home city and purchase the fertility medications that are necessary for the treatment cycle also at your home city.

All Patients are recommended to undergo a pre—treatment (pre—IVF) diagnostic hysteroscopy  before the embryo transfer procedure to assess the integrity of the uterine cavity where the embryo is going to be transferred. This procedure can be performed at Millennium Medical Center MMCIVF or by your OB/GYN or your Reproductive OB/GYN at your home cite and you can just email us the video or photos of the procedure. The other option is synchronizing the diagnostic hysteroscopy with your egg retrieval procedure so you can avoid an additional general anesthesia at home. The fees for this procedure at Millennium Medical Center MMCIVF are AED 7000.

Embryo freezing is banned by the Federal UAE laws. Embryo freezing permission can be applied on a case-to-case basis to the Ministry of Health. We will do this paperwork for our Patients without additional fees once you send us both your passport copies (your ID copies) and the marriage certificate copy. In case if MOH allows you to freeze your extra embryos, there is will be an additional fee for embryo freezing AED 3000 for your future frozen embryo transfer cycles if needed.
