Sometimes pregnancy is not achieved due to genetic problems of the embryo. For example, the age of the parents influences the possibility of malformations. If a woman undergoes an in vitro fertilization at 35 years, 50% of the embryos could present some genetic malformation, at 38 years, the proportion grows to 60%; and in one of 40, to 80%.

In case of medical indication, we have genetic tests that allow to find healthy embryos to transfer during the treatment of high complexity.

GENETIC SCREENING PREIMPLANTATORIO

The SGP (or PGS for its acronym in English), is a type of preimplantation genetic test that determines if the cells of an embryo have the correct amount of chromosomes, which in humans are 23 pairs. Chromosomal abnormalities are among the most common reasons for implantation failures and miscarriage, and are more likely to occur as a woman's ova grow older. Unlike PGD, it does not test for a specific disease but abnormalities in the number of chromosomes.
