Carolina Conceptions

LGBT Fertility and Family Building: Carolina Conceptions can help gay and lesbian couples create families with the assistance of fertility treatments. All patients will have an initial consultation with one of the physicians to discuss their medical history, the fertility evaluation, and review treatment and financial options. Fertility Treatment for Lesbian Couples: There are two options we can offer for lesbians or single women who wish to become parents. Both options will require the use of donor sperm. Intrauterine insemination (IUI, aka artificial insemination, donor insemination) involves the injection of washed sperm directly into the uterus on the day of ovulation. The timing of ovulation can be controlled through the use of fertility medications, and sometimes donor sperm insemination is performed after controlled ovarian hyper stimulation. In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is the fertilization of eggs in a Petri dish. After the created embryos have developed for 3-5 days, they will be transferred into the uterus to establish a pregnancy. We usually transfer the best 1 or 2 embryos and freeze the remaining embryos of good quality. Reciprocal IVF is a popular form of treatment for lesbian couples because it allows both partners to be involved in the conception. The eggs from one partner will be fertilized with the donor sperm, and the embryos are later transferred into the other partner who will then carry the pregnancy. Fertility Treatment for Gay Male Couples: We can help gay male couples who wish to become parents by using an egg donor along with a gestational carrier (gestational surrogate). IVF is performed using eggs from a donor, along with sperm from one or both of the male partners. One or two of the best embryos are transferred into the uterus of the gestational carrier, who will carry the pregnancy. Legal Resources: When third party reproduction is used (donor sperm, donor eggs, or gestational carrier), there are important legal issues that should be considered and addressed, including establishing legal parentage. Carolina Conceptions can refer to you attorneys who specialize in third party reproductive law with experience in this very special area of legal practice. Jennifer Tharrington has provided a new resource video for same sex couples outlining how each parent can legally assume all parental rights for their child. In her video, Jennifer explains how NC law interprets which names go on the child

Entire experience at CC was not a good one. No communication or directions throughout the process. Lab orders are never sent to labs when they are supposed to so you are left hanging at the lab. Stressful as you have to constantly remind the staff how to do their jobs. We lef t CC and are still fighting months later for our refund of a canceled cycle. They are holding money due us hostage for no reason. Glad we left as rhe stress from this office im sure contributed to our 2 pregnancy losses.
