ART Institute of Washington is an independent contractor that exclusively provides assisted reproduction services to military families. In January 1996, the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology of the National Capital Residency Program in Obstetrics and Gynecology initiated an Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) program. Since its inception, the program has offered In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI), and Intrauterine Insemination (IUI).
Collectively, the ART Institute of Washington’s IVF laboratory scientists and consultants have decades of experience at the highest levels of embryology. We pride ourselves on being innovative while paying attention to detail and maintaining the highest standards of quality.
As a laboratory with two board-certified High Complexity Laboratory Directors (Drs. Aidita James and Jacques Cohen are both HCLD certified), we’ve pioneered a number of IVF procedures. Indeed, our scientists and consultants have developed many of the tools and methods of modern Assisted Reproductive Technology. They include assisted hatching (used in hundreds of laboratories worldwide), specialized air filtration (called CODA), optimal culture fluids (called GLOBAL), the use of IVF-specific petri dishes such as the GPS dish, and more.
Our laboratory at Walter Reed is equipped with the newest tools and has many safety features aimed at forewarning embryologists of environmental changes that may be disadvantageous to embryos. Staff meticulously check conditions inside the laboratory and also remotely. Embryos growing in culture and frozen embryos are monitored around the clock.
