Speech of the Vice President of Association for "IRIFIV-AISRG" Andrology lab Dr. Noureddine LOUANJLI

Defining Standards In Reproductive Embryology.

Association for Scientific Research of the IRIFIV-AISRG Group is an organization of embryology practitioners dedicated to advancing the practice of reproductive embryology and establishing standards for reproductive embryology care.

ABOUT  – Reproductive Embryology Certification (R.E.C)

Association for Scientific Research of the IRIFIV-AISRG Group is a non-profit Texas corporation.

Association for Scientific Research of the IRIFIV-AISRG Group is an organization of embryology practitioners that serves patients, embryologists, and the public by fostering and advocating excellence in the practice of reproductive embryology. Association for Scientific Research mission is to assure that the knowledge and skills of every reproductive embryology practitioner in the Kingdom of Morocco  meets a minimum standard established by IRIFIV-AISRG through a peer review process.  Embryologists provide care for embryos until they are about a week old. At the end of the process, embryologists select embryos that will be transferred into the woman’s uterus or frozen for future transfers. Embryologists also may perform embryo biopsies, where a sample is taken to determine whether the embryo is chromosomally normal. Embryologists also determine which embryos are viable, and which have became arrested in development and no longer have the potential to become a baby after transfer into the uterus. Embryology practitioners have vastly different training and backgrounds. Association for Scientific Research of the IRIFIV-AISRG Group has established a certification process to bring the most advanced embryology practitioners to the common minimal denominator in their level of knowledge.  The highest level of certification recognized by IRIFIV-AISRG is Reproductive Embryologist – R.E.C. Most of the individuals certified at this level have a Doctoral Degree. If they do not, they have vast experience or other credentials that were vetted by IRIFIV-AISRG and accepted as evidence of their expertise at that level. A Reproductive Embryologist (R.E.C.) is an individual with a doctoral degree, who has the level of knowledge and expertise to interpret observation made in a embryology facility within the context of infertility patients history and contribute to patient’s treatment by providing the Reproductive Endocrinologist (your infertility physician) with an input to select the best strategy for achieving pregnancy. Association for Scientific Research of the IRIFIV-AISRG Group recommends inquiring about the credentials of the embryology practitioner on staff at the fertility clinic. After all, he/she is the individual who is performing IVF, which is the central and usually most expensive part of the assisted reproduction treatment.

Certification

Embryology practice is regulated at the international level and therefore, a  certification in embryology is a required task in the vast majority of cases, scientific research into fertility and human sterility. Accordingly, at this time, the certification offered by Association for Scientific Research of the IRIFIV-AISRG Group is voluntary and is for fertility and infertility researchers and embryologists and is required to practice embryology, and is officially recognized.

However,  Association for Scientific Research of the IRIFIV-AISRG Group plays an important role in self-regulation of embryology practice and is involved in anatomical activity that could influence future embryology practice. Association for Scientific Research of the IRIFIV-AISRG Group certification is prestigious and a number of distinguished practitioners have already been certified. Reproductive Embryology Certification (R.E.C) In order to assure the standard of embryology care, certification of embryology practitioners is one of the core missions of Association for Scientific Research of the IRIFIV-AISRG Group.

At this time, Embryology practice is unregulated in the some IVF labs on the federal level, and only a handful of states regulate it at the state level. Therefore, certification by Association for Scientific Research of the IRIFIV-AISRG Group  or any other organization is not required to practice embryology. However, this may change and some form of certification or license will be required. Many outstanding practitioners already became certified by IRIFIV-AISRG.

Please note that effective April 30th 2021, Association for Scientific Research of the IRIFIV-AISRG Group , offers only one type of general certification – Reproductive Embryologist. Certification requirements for Reproductive Embryologist: Hold earned MSc or Ph.D. or M.D. from an accredited university Approved by a group comprised of Certified Reproductive Embryologists (CRE)
