URE Centro GutenbergĀ“s first IVF baby.


Unidad de Reproducción Centro’s First IVF baby was born in 1989. This small bundle of joy was the first baby conceived through convenient fertilization technique in Malaga. Her name is Lorena Perez.

Lorena’s mother was 42–year–old lady with low ovarian reserve. Surely, she was a little bit scared about IVF. She was like a bundle of nerves as she did not know if she would have her bundle of joy after IVF.

Two oocytes were collected and fertilized in the IVF laboratory. After that, one embryo was transferred. And this Embryo was Lorena. The next day Lorena was born, her story from test–tube–embryo–baby to an amazing healthy newborn girl was published in the newspapers.
