Review of Dr. Gavin Sacks from A C
I had an IVF cycle with him . The clinic didn’t tell me the embryo had not progressed until I went for my embryo transfer . I was incredible upset as it was essentially non viable .i received little sympathy\n\nI’m not sure if Dr Sacks was aware of who I was at each appointment as he would be referring back to notes constantly and vague about answers .\n\nAt least I didn’t have to get a number to check in like at a butcher . That’s what Genea was like ..
Review of Dr. Gavin Sacks from Rachelle
I want to start this by saying that Dr Gavin Sacks is one of the best doctors in the IVF world. He helped us bring our son into the world, and for that I’ll always be grateful.\n\nBut beyond the successful outcome, our experience was difficult in ways I wish I had felt stronger to speak up about at the time.\n\nFrom our first meeting in 2019, I felt judged for my body. It was clear to me that my weight was an issue for Dr Sacks, and while I understand the medical risks associated with higher BMIs, the way this was communicated felt dismissive and unkind. During my egg retrieval in 2020, 35 eggs were collected which I now know is an unusually high number. I remember I was in excruciating pain in the recovery room. I was clearly distressed, but I felt brushed off and was sent home. No one seemed to take my pain seriously.\n\nWithin days I was admitted to hospital for 3 nights with ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome symptoms. As part of discharge, I was told to follow up with Dr Sacks. At that appointment, he said he didn’t even know why I was there, he referred to me as a “funny girl” and said he didn’t know how much pain I’d really been in, commenting that the nurses in the recovery room didn’t know what to do with me. Coming off the back of repeated miscarriages and walking into that appointment feeling vulnerable and anxious, I left feeling small and unheard.\n\nTo Dr Sacks’ credit, after my husband rang and expressed how upset we were, he called to apologise. That phone call mattered, because it meant I went back and had a successful frozen transfer resulting in the birth of my son. But the damage was done, I still think about these interactions regularly. Although we have 9 further frozen embryos, I cannot bring myself to go back.\n\nAlthough I know this was a long time ago, it has caused me struggle seeking health care when I need it. We are hearing more and more stories about how women are dismissed in healthcare it makes me think of this time in my life. I think about how I should have stood up for myself, but I was so desperate, so scared, and so hopeful. I hope sharing this now helps others feel less alone and that women going through IVF are always met with the compassion, empathy, and belief they deserve..

I did not have a good experience with Gavin and I would not recommend him. I found him dismissive and defensive when i asked questions. The only time he showed compassion and understanding was when I was in tears. During the first embryo transfer, he pointed out the embryo location on the screen only for the specialist to inform us that it was still in the tube. Furthermore, he turned up 40mins late to my second embryo transfer. Both of which were unsuccessful. When I asked what the forward looking plan was for my fertility treatment, he told me to go with the flow. If I had the option to go with the flow I wouldn’t be paying thousands of dollars for IVF. I ended up changing to an IVF specialist named Allison Gee and fell pregnant from the first transfer. I now have a beautiful 8month old daughter

Highly recommend Dr Gavin Sacks. Was compassionate with me along my journey to become a mother. He put me in touch with the right people to help me along the way as I had several health conditions and was considered high risk to be pregnant. Tried to go down the path of surrogacy which didn’t turn out then Gavin assisted me with beginning my journey to becoming a mother. The first transfer was successful and I now have a 3 1/2 year-old daughter and couldn’t be more happier in my life. I also highly recommend Dr Sandra Lowe if you have medical issues and wish to become pregnant..
