Furthermore, the government has banned hiring a surrogate mother with the issuance of the Health Law, which provides criminal sanctions for those involved in surrogacy. Thus, all forms of surrogacy agreements conducted in Indonesia, by a married couple, or single Indonesian citizens are null and void because they conflict with existing laws and regulations.
