Like in most Eastern countries, Egg Donation, Sperm Donation, Embryo Adoption, and Surrogacy are prohibited by law. Therefore, the only possible options are IUI using the husband’s sperm and IVF using the wife’s eggs and the husband’s sperm. There is also a limit on the number of embryos that can be transferred per a single IVF cycle. Under the current law, a maximum of three embryos may be transferred at a time.
Unlike most Eastern countries, gender selection and preimplantation genetic testing are allowed, but there are some nuances to consider before booking an IVF program. For example, embryo sex selection (PGT–M) can be made if there is a risk of transmitting sex–linked diseases. And the other PGT types (PGT–A, PGT–SR, PGT–P) can be performed only in cases where genetic or hereditary diseases may affect embryos.
Egg freezing, sperm freezing, and embryo cryopreservation are permitted. Moreover, Egg Freezing will be offered if you are undergoing standard IVF, but fertilization cannot be done because of issues with your husband’s sperm.
