The Birth Company

I had a very disappointing experience at The Birth Company under HCA Healthcare UK today (27Feb2025), specifically due to the unprofessional and rude behavior of Specialist Sonographer Afsaneh Tehrani. This was my first pregnancy, a deeply emotional and special moment, yet she treated me in an unwelcoming and dismissive manner.nnWhen I asked if the sound we heard was my baby’s heartbeat, she responded in a condescending way: “Your heart is up there” (pointing at my chest), “that’s the baby’s heartbeat, yeah!” This was completely unnecessary and unprofessional. A first-time mother asking a simple question should never be made to feel belittled. On top of that, she didn’t even acknowledge my pregnancy with a simple “congratulations,” which is basic courtesy in any prenatal setting.nnShe was also clearly in a hurry, rushing through the appointment as if she just wanted to get it over with. At one point, she even asked if I had finished changing yet, making me feel pressured and uncomfortable instead of supported during such an important moment.nnAdditionally, she spoke very aggressively to my husband, telling him to only take pictures without her in the frame. While we understand staff may have preferences about photos, the way she communicated this was unnecessarily harsh and unpleasant, adding to the overall negative experience.nnTo be clear, the reception and administrative staff were kind and professional, and my issue is solely with Afsaneh Tehrani. I am well aware of the exceptional quality of care in HCA Healthcare, as I will be delivering at The Portland Hospital. Unfortunately, this experience fell far below those standards.nnI strongly do not recommend Afsaneh Tehrani and hope The Birth Company ensures their patients receive the respect and compassion they deserve during such a sensitive and emotional time.

I've been coming here for over a year, and the sonographer, Afsaneh, has been nothing short of amazing throughout my entire journey. She has patiently addressed all my concerns and is always more than willing to answer any questions I have. I feel incredibly fortunate to have had her by my side, and the only reason I continue to return is because of her exceptional care. My husband has also attended a few visits, and he wouldn't want to see anyone else..

I cannot say enough great things about the team at the clinic. Throughout my IVF journey, the care and professionalism I have received from the sonography Afsahneh Tehrani has truly been beyond exceptional.nnAfsahnehs years of experience is noticeable as I have felt that every time I visit the clinic and that is quite often she makes each scan a comfortable and reassuring experience. Afsahneh takes the time to explain everything in detail, ensuring I am well informed and at ease during such an emotional process. Her kindness and expertise makes all the difference, turning what could be a stressful moment into one of hope and confidence.nnAfsahneh also takes my blood which is not an easy task and so many others have failed however Afsahneh is equally fantastic—gentle, efficient, and always extremely caring. Blood tests are never fun, but her skill and friendly demeanour has made each blood test and again I have had many over the last year an stress-free experience. Afsahneh is patient, precise, and truly caring about making me feel comfortable.nnThe level of compassion and professionalism at the birth clinic is unmatched but in particular Afsahneh. The staff go above and beyond to make you feel supported, valued, and in the best hands possible. I’m so grateful for all their dedication and support. I highly recommend them to anyone going through fertility treatment. Thank you for making this journey a little easier!.

I visited this clinic during my both peragnancies. I was keen to be scanned by the same sonoghrapher, Ms Afsaneh Tehrani, for from my perspective she is very professional and knowledgeable. She also explains every steps so patiently. In my previous scan she could mention some important ponits which NHS sonoghraphers even weren't able to discover them. The best sonoghrapher ever seen. I had an early pregnancy scan here and the service was executed! Everyone is professional, especially the Marian who is very competent in her work as an ultrasonographer. The facilities are superb and clean and as a first time mum, I feel at ease and comfortable in their care. Will come back and recommend to friends and family.
