Review of Snowflake Embryo Donation and Adoption from Kathryn Pruett

When we initially found the NEDC, we had a very good experience. We loved Christa who worked there, and we were matched to Dr. Gordon as our fertility doctor. We adopted our children through the NEDC, and I wouldn’t change that for the world. However, the NEDC of 202-25 is a far cry from the NEDC of 2021-22. Dr. Keenan has proven himself to be litigious and controlling. While we were told that when we adopted the embryos they were legally ours, the NEDC had us sign a document saying they were under the care of the NEDC, and therefore, were not legally ours until they were in my womb. Dr. Keenan claimed this was for the protection of the embryos, but when the NEDC and Rejoice split, he held the embryos over our head and offered the carrot and stick method: stay with us and get all of these benefits (with the understanding that the embryos belong to the NEDC), or go with Dr. Gordon and be penalized (but the embryos are yours for five years before they are returned to the NEDC). Dr. Keenan has stoked the ire of many NEDC parents, yours truly included. We chose to go with Dr. Gordon because of his obvious Christian morals, his openness with his patients, and the fact that he (unlike Dr. Keenan) isn’t hellbent on going to court over anything he can drum up. An obvious way to measure the boss is staff turnover. Rejoice’s staff remains unchanged. The NEDC is unrecognizable from the beginning of the split in summer 2024. Only Dr. Keenan and Mark are still on the NEDC’s payroll.\nI cannot in good conscience recommend the NEDC. While I want all embryos to be adopted into loving families, as of this date, I would not work with them. You want an organization who puts the families and embryos first, not their organization or ego. Check out Nightlight’s Snowflake program. I also highly recommend Rejoice and Dr. Gordon, of course.
