In March 2018 I had an appointment with Shahin Ghadir. It was awful - he acted as if it was an inconvenience, he flipped through paperwork and barely made eye contact during our maybe 10 minute long consult. The cherry on top for me was that he told me I needed to lose 1 pound per day and needed to eat no more than 1,000 calories per day. He also stated that I should step on the scale daily to ensure I was losing weight. He then tried to push vitamins on me that totaled over $200/month. Needless to say, I never returned. The women working at the front desk were incredibly sweet and patient.

6 years, 6 years of thinking we couldn't conceive! So grateful to my OB who refereed me to Dr. Ghadir's office. I cant speak more highly about the experience and staff,.Madi, Aileen, and the Ultrasound technicians were beyond outstanding! You could genuinely tell that they truly cared about us and what we were going through. We were directed to this office for a reason, and after a few months of coming here we found out we were pregnant. Luckily for us it was an easy fix. But I am 100 percent sure this wouldn't have happened without SCRC and the staff. Your OB can refer you out for a free consultation. Dr rychlik is great.... honest, thoughtful, kind and seems to know his profession well. However, I hardly ever saw him. After initial consultations you will be sent to work with the office staff and I highly urge anyone who needs any amount of accurate information, places to ask questions or who would like to understand the process they are participating in to find another group of professionals. We have been Trying to conceive for 4 yrs. After commuting to LA for many procedures we decided to look closer. After a round of egg retrieval (which had to be in Santa Barbara so didn't really save on the driving...) I am left completely unsure what to do because I have been putting off IVF with scrc for months because I know how much emotional energy and time it will take to deal with the staff. I have worked with a number of other doctors who are personally involved every step of the way and who work with the patient carefully and thoughtfully. Before writing a review I have spoken directly to office staff and while some have worked to address concerns right away the lack of/miscommunication continued. We have been billed for services we are starting as well as actually charged for services we weren't yet doing. One of the other reasons we chose scrc was because Dr. Rychlik was so helpful in working with us to approach ivf in a way that ethically works for us. However: that message wasn't passed to his staff and I had to justify our decisions to multiple people, multiple times. Infertility is emotionally and physically draining, however a good doctor (and staff) can seriously make a world of difference). While I believe that every patient should advocate for themselves I just want to warn anyone looking for help with fertility to fully research the type of support and care you should expect from a doctor before moving ahead with procedures.

After my husband and I spent a year trying to start our family and had no success, I was desperate. After doing my research, it became clear that SCRC had the best results. I was able to be seen in the Ventura office (but had the actual procedures done in Santa Barbara). Right away I met with my Dr, Dr. Ghadir, where we discussed what my wishes were (we wanted to try conceiving at home first but with the help of medication). Dr. Ghadir never tried to change my mind, only supported our decision. When that didn't work, we set up a new plan of attack. While going through the IUI and IVF process, I got really familiar with Tina (my nurse in Ventura) and Frank (my ultrasound tech) which made the whole process easier. Tina is that sweet, loving motherly type in a way that as soon as she greets you with her smile you just know it's going to be ok. Frank is a quiet man that makes an uncomfortable situation seems not so bad, if you have to get an ultrasound, get Frank! So let's jump to the egg retrieval process. I go to Santa Barbara where we are greeted by the Dr that will be doing the process, Dr. Rychlik. What a fun dr! I tend to joke around to make uncomfortable situations better and he was right there with me with the jokes. He instantly made my husband feel better about a very intimate procedure, he included him in every step which was much appreciated so my husband was just as connected as I was. So from the egg retrieval process day, I met two more nurses, Ashley & Betty. Two amazing ladies. They have been so patient with me, I get anxiety easily and need everything spelled out for me and want to know what's going to happen before it does. They dealt with my difficult personality with a smile every rime, never making me feel bad for being nervous or needing to plan for what was ahead. Last but most definitely not least, Cheryl. I would joke around with her that she was like my guardian angel. I never met her, but after every visit, I would receive a call from her just to check in. It got to the point where after I would get great news, I would email her, as if we were longtime friends, and EVERY time, she would respond with so much happiness for me. Even when I wouldn't email her for a while I would get a "hey how are you" email or phone call. I know this is a long post, but if you are still with me, choose SCRC, you won't be sorry! After only 1 IVF, I'm proud to say I'm 9 weeks pregnant with twins! YAY

DR. Surrey is the best! He's beyond knowledgeable and is honest as they get! He's very direct and patient with being available for all the questions and emotional support needed during this fragile time. I had been to 3 different fertility doctors over a 2 year period and had no luck and doctors who were clearly in it for the money not for the right reasons. Mark told me i didn't need a lot of procedures that the other doctors told me to do and Mark succeeded at getting me pregnant on our first try with him and gave us a beautiful healthy baby boy! G-d bless him there is nobody out there like him!

I have been a patient of SCRC in Santa Barbara for close to nine months, after being referred by Dr. Quijano. Overall, my care has been pretty good with one exception. In the past two months, I have had my blood drawn by one of the newer Phlebotomists. The entire experience has been consistently harrowing. She is a nice enough gal, however is clearly not a capable Phlebotomist. The two times she has drawn my blood, she has approached me with her hands visibly trembling and has yet to strike a vein with any success the first, nor second time. The last time she drew my blood, which was on a weekend, I walked out and one of the other patients whom I had been chatting with in the waiting room, asked if Angie was working; she later remarked that she had had similar experiences with the other phlebotomists. Both times, I have returned home to later notice hematomas on both of my anti-cubital regions - not cool !!! I would recommend either having one of the Physicians draw your blood or Angie, as she is highly skilled, consistently upbeat and has an exceedingly empathetic heart. Another option would be to head over to Pacific Diagnostic Labs, which is also in Santa Barbara.
