I cannot help but discourage everyone I know from using FCI. They are a mistake-prone factory. You won't have any real contact with your doctor, they are so disjointed that they give you conflicting clinical instructions, mix up medical information, and make you monitor yourself without sufficient oversight. "Financial coordinators" are absent and unreachable as you get unexplained bill after unexplained bill and try to navigate insurance coverage.

I am deeply disheartened by my experience with this clinic. Following an IVF transfer--which already presented challenges due to limited guidance and minimal follow-up--I learned the pregnancy was ectopic. After returning the next day for methotrexate treatment, I received no follow-up for over 10 days, despite having three monitoring appointments and sending countless (and daily) portal messages and voicemails.\n\nAt the time, I had been informed that my doctor, though retiring, would continue to oversee my care due to my high-risk status. Unfortunately, that oversight never occurred, and I was left without proper medical support during an extremely vulnerable and critical period.\n\nNo patient should have to navigate such an emotionally and physically demanding situation without adequate care or communication. Choosing to transfer my care elsewhere was not only necessary--it was the best decision I could have made..

My experiences at this office and with Dr. Nguyen & his team were excellent. Having to have a major surgery to move forward with IVF was unexpected but the team made the process as "painless" as possible and ensured I felt supported throughout.

My experience has been deeply frustrating, particularly with the financial person, Ingrid. I contacted FCI 2 months ago to schedule a consultation but had to update my husband’s insurance since he got a new job, and was told it would take 1 week for Ingrid to check the new insurance info before we can book anything. Despite repeated follow-ups, we still haven’t received an update, and we’re unable to schedule his consultation for 2 months.\n\nIngrid also gave me three different billing estimates previously because she got the wrong treatment for me and it took weeks of chasing to get a final version, which was still wrong. I eventually figured out the wrong billing because my company had to reconcile everything when I reimburse the costs.\n\nFor a fertility clinic, where time is so critical, this level of disorganization and unresponsiveness is unacceptable..

The FCI clinic in Chicago River North is amazing! They all took great care of me and always made me feel welcome and at ease in my fertility journey. Dr. Burks is an exceptional doctor! She helped me throughout my fertility journey and recommended the best path for us to take. I trust her and know she has my best interest at heart. She also has a remarkable nurse team supporting her who also take excellent care of you throughout the process. Special shout out to Alyssa who was the best nurse I had in my life. She is super patient centric! I’m grateful for Dr. Burks and her team being alongside me in this important chapter of my life. I couldn’t have asked for a better Doctor and team! I highly recommend them!.

Dr. Burks at FCI River North helps to make your family building dreams a reality. She has thorough testing done to get to the root of any issue and comes up with an individualized treatment plan to address it. She truly cares about you and meets with you in person or virtually on a regular basis. Her team is amazing as well! Special shoutout to one of her nurses Alyssa, who would answer my many questions in a timely manner and made this journey much smoother. Everyone at FCI (including Hinsdale location as well) has been so great to work with. From the patient care specialists to phlebotomists to ultrasound technicians to nurses to embryology lab and financial coordinators, this place runs so efficiently! I will definitely be back when ready for the building to continue.

This clinic is absolutely awful. First, the level of incompetence in their front office is next level. It took them over a month to verify that our insurance was accepted. This, despite multiple calls to our insurance providers who were equally baffled as to why this should take so long. Even once it was verified, it took multiple calls to get them to find that information. On top of this, the front office staff is also incredibly rude. It has been several months, and I have still received only an intake appointment despite trying to move forward because they do not communicate next steps, take forever to respond to questions/requests, and cannot be bothered to review lab results as they come in, leading to long lags. Honestly, steer clear of this clinic if you value your sanity.

Trying to transfer my care and submitted request to release my health information to my new provider and it's been over 30 days since I've made the request and they still havent the information over. They had the nerve to try and charge me $60 when I initially made the request. When I told them expediting was not necessary, said they would bill me $30 and then send the information. STILL waiting for this to happen. It feels like they purposely push off requests to release medical information to force people to pay $60. Incredibly frustrating to be unable to access my own medical information as it's NOT in their online portal.

Do not use their fertility awareness service, pretty sure it's just a money grab. They said my husband would get his results in 2-3 weeks. It's been over a month with no phone call or results uploaded to his portal. We've tried to call the location- they do not answer phones, they do not return voicemails. I had to call the main line (not river north) and someone from Glenview tried to facilitate getting us the results. TBD whether we ever do- but they sure do have our $99.

Unfortunately FCI has only increased my stress during the whole process. You really do feel like just a number, you never talk to the same nurse, conflicting information is sent and it seems very difficult to get answers. The portal is difficult to use. Sometimes you have to call 10 + times to even get someone on the phone to schedule an appointment. The Dr. told the nurse to keep me on a medication I wasn't even taking and I had to call back to correct the Dr. and the nurse. I understand this clinic sees a large number of people, but it seems like they can't keep things straight.
I will say all of the ultrasound techs, a couple nurses I've had and the phlebotomists all have been wonderful.

Hands down, one of the worst experiences of my life, medical or otherwise. If you want to be treated like a faceless quota for how much money they can get out of you, this is your place. They won't even pick up the phone or respond to a portal message without collecting payment first. Billing is an absolute mess, it takes major effort to get any detailed bills or explanation of charges. There's no dedicated nurse or advocate to each patient, so you get a new person with each message. I did the same medication course twice with different instructions (i.e. the second time on the EXACT SAME drug protocol, I was told to avoid intercourse and exercises so that my ovaries didn't twist or rupture; seems like something that would have been relevant the first time). From start to finish, I met with the doctor once. That was when he said we might as well just move to a donor. Oh gee, another service that he makes big money on. Shocker. No explanation of diagnosis, care or options along the way. Now I'm fighting with them to try and get my medical records to go elsewhere. The only reason it isn't rated a 1 is that the ultrasound and blood draw staff are nice.

I've had the privilege of working with the doctors and staff at FCI at River North for a number of years. My clients who have been patients have been very successful overall and happy with the care they have received. Years of experience can make all the difference. Make an appointment to see what the clinic can do for you.

Leaving a 3/5 as medical services provided were great. Dr. Kaplan and nurses were very kind and welcoming. Sharing what to expect next. The rest of it was a mess. Billing and follow-up's are the worst. Had retrieval approval sent in and my insurance approved in 3-days. I kept having to stalk the office about it since it was good for 3-months. Then finally the coordinator 3.5wks later let me know that they saw it. Finance reached out a week later, had me prepay and scheduled treatment plan. Once started, kept receiving bills for services that had been prepaid. Kept asking about the credits on my account. While in treatment, nurse reached out and incorrectly provided me someone else's information. Had retrieval completed 10/30 and they have yet to bill my insurance as of 12/13. Have left multiple voicemails, sent two emails, three messages via portal since November and no one has yet to reach out. Really disappointing service by the rest of the office.

My husband and I enjoyed our experience at FCI (old location), which led to the birth of our son this September! The entire team under Dr. Jennifer Hirshfeld-Cytron were fantastic--from the compassionate nurses to the phlebotomy team (loved getting in and our in a matter of minutes!) We were initially diagnosed with unexplained infertility at age 36 after trying for 6 months, and were about to start the IUI process (ordered the medicine and shot), but came down with COVID so had to cancel. However, the Letrozole that was prescribed to release an additional egg was apparently all we needed to get pregnant, and so we never actually went through with IUI or IVF! The fertility journey is so emotional, so don't hesitate to use their counseling services, too (the clinic thinks of everything). The one conversation I had was so specialized to what I was experiencing (unlike my regular generic therapist) that I immediately felt better. Billing, ease of portal use, were all great. The place knows what they're doing and they're very efficient about everything. The only recommendation I would have to the clinic and couples everywhere: get the man tested right away! We always test the women first and explore their egg count, their tubes, etc. and it can be quite invasive. After 6 months of trying and a few months at the clinic, it turned out my husband had motility issues the whole time! (the clinic helped us to quickly correct that with diet, but it takes 3 months for the sperm to turn over and I felt we could have addressed this earlier in our fertility journey or even in our first call before starting all of my testing/drugs, but I understand they like to throw everything at the wall for best and fastest results).

My gosh where to start. FCI as a company is HORRIFIC. Was with them for a year and it was the most stressful horrible experience of my life and I work in healthcare. I have had to escalate SOOO many issues to management and was promised many times that it would be resolved and IF it was, it was only partially resolved. Here are some of the issues: who ever entered me into the system put me in all in lower case (shouldn't be an issue right... wrong) no one was able to find me ever in the system because it is case sensitive, the billing department was the worst part of all (you have to pay upfront which wasnt The issue it was that you would give them $4000 so you wouldn't get billed for every little thing they did but yet I got a bill in the mail every single time even when I had an abundance of credit on my account... No one was ever able to figure out why I kept getting billed when I had a credit ), you have to come in at very specific times and they hardly ever had availability after they closed one of the locations so I had to drive an hour in one direction for just a blood draw because you can't use an outside company, the receptionists answering the phone would hang up decorations in the office for the holiday rather than pick up the phone, I never new what the next step was and had to message the RN or doctor every time (an ultrasound tech saw me crying one day and asked me what's wrong and she was actually the one who told me more information than I ever got from the nurse or doctor), when you went in for a procedure you felt like cattle and not a human, any paperwork you had to submit I had to submit over and over and over again because " they never got it" even though the website or emails have proof you have. My doctor was nice but I only saw her maybe 4 out of the 80ish times I was at FCI (wish she would work for a better company)
