Ive been going here for years for birth control and never once had a issue. However, my appointment yesterday wasn’t acceptable (imo). I asked one of the nurses who was providing my depo shot at the time if the waiting room door was supposed to be left open? Reassuring my concerns that it probably wasn’t since there was a evident sign on it to keep it closed but wanted confirmation and wanted her to know that other clients were doing it when coming in. Her response in a high pitched/moody or hostile-like tone was, “well go shut it then”. I felt baffled that voicing a concern that wasn’t any concern to me or my responsibility, would receive such a response in such a bossy and negative tone (sensitive to tone). It isn’t my business or responsibility to shut a door after every client would come into the waiting room and leave it open when they aren’t supposed to? I’m a client too. I shut the door when i was allowed in and took a seat. In no way, shape, or form should i shut a door of those who come in after me. If this is a enforced rule for this door, then it’s planned parenthood staff’s responsibility that it’s met and respected, not mine. Its not my problem! Nor should i be talked to in such a rude and bossy way.

I have been going to Corning PP for 12 years. My friend got pregnant about eight months after having her first baby. She needed to discuss options and seek counseling. I recommended this establishment because I’ve always been well cared for and the staff has been attentive throughout the years. She was at a vulnerable point in her life and I felt the services PP rendered would be very helpful. When she called she was told the only thing that this location does is plan abortions. The service desk was curt, she asked to come in and discuss her options and risks and they repeated that the location was only for abortions. The tone of the conversation was basically that my friend was wasting their time unless it was going to be about an abortion? This is not what I have been going to Corning PP for in the past twelve years, ever. I’m confused and frustrated with the event and upset that I recommended her, only for her to feel some type of shame after calling..

I mean, they're good, and will help you with what you need no matter where you come from- however, they constantly deadnamed me in all of my prescriptions, despite my legal name having been changed for quite some time and them being informed of such, as well as given the proper paperwork (I did check with my pharmacy to ensure it wasn't a mistake on the pharmacist's end- it wasn't). I live a fair distance away but this was the closest Planned Parenthood to me that offered HRT, and due to the difficulty I have had reaching staff about the issue I have moved my care to a place that my PCP suggested after bringing up this issue. This is a decent place to go, but please make sure they use the correct name on all of your medications/files! (As of writing this, I am no longer seeing Planned Parenthood for my transition).
