Planned Parenthood - West Islip

I brought a young lady in this evening. We walked into a clean and comfortable waiting room after being greeted and signed in by Dana and Alva. We went in for a wellness check. She came out exceptionally pleased with the examination from Dr. Domingo, and the nurse Dany. She was fully tested. She said Dr. Domingo was exceptionally patient and calming during the examination. She walked in tense and walked out thoroughly content.

Exceptional service we will be going back. As a social worker, I will be recommending this office to others.

If I can give the location zero stars I would, I had come here for an IUD insertion, I was able to see Ruth. Only reason I had came to the facility was because my doctors office didn't have an available appointment and I was going away etc. I had gone to have my IUD inserted, cramped and had bleeding which is a normal side effect. This was not my first rodeo, but my cramping did not subside, it had just progressed and worsened.

When I had my first IUD inserted his GSB OBGYN they had my return for an ultrasound to check if everything was okay, so I requested that PPH give me a script for a IUD check. They had expressed to me if I wanted an IUD check I can have them manually check it (feeling). I can feel the strings myself. I would've felt MUCH MORE comfortable having a ultrasound done. Fast forward I believe either 2-3 days later, the pain was EXCRUCIATING enough for me to be seen by a doctor that I work with, he gave me a CT scan to rule out appendicitis. I KNOW MY BODY, there was something 100% wrong, I went for a CT scan and my IUD was misplaced.

When I came home from my CT scan, West Islip location had closed, I had one more option to call Riverhead they closed within the hour and I was panicking, I was in pain and they were NO HELP. She said she can "accommodate" me for the following morning. Mind you I live almost 30/40 minutes away depending on traffic. I told her I would run there now - but instead I was told to go to ER if my symptoms progressed.

So they ended up scheduling me in the Patchouge location the next morning at 10:30, I had to request to be late to work due to it, half-way there, they called me saying the doctor will be canceling her appointments due to have an emergency. I get it. They had nothing sooner in West Islip and they had me wait till the end of that day in pain to be seen in West Islip.

I had returned to the same location, same physician due them "accommodating me" and the girls were saying how "my body rejected" the IUD. My body did not reject the IUD, it was misplaced. Big difference. I now have my IUD, which was placed by MY DOCTOR and everything is a-okay.

BOTTOM LINE: Use YOUR OWN OBGYN if you can, I do not recommend going to clinics to be seen and told "you're fine" when you're not fine.

At the beginning I want to thank the front desk lady. She was super nice and helpful. I've visited couple other PPH locations and usually I've felt super bad and such a burden after talking with the front desk, but not in West Islip.

After the front desk I was treated and helped with nurses and a doctor who were all so friendly, helpful and made me feel that everything I told was important and nothing was awkward. I got IUD insertion and I was little nervous and ended up passing out during the insertion. I got two nurses and doctor helping me, making me feel better, not making me feel like I was such a loser (lol). They made me cool off when I was sweating, brought saltines and water and did everything to help me to feel good again and checked my vitals every couple mins.

Yea. I would stay away. ok if you have no other options. i had an adverse reactions to some medication they gave me. I called and was told the NP would call me back. The end of their working day came and no one called me back. Complete idiots. Or maybe they just don't care? Something serious could have happened to me. I took it upon myself to stop taking the medication after discussing with my pharmacist. My pharmacist stated that she was completely disturbed by their behavior. very trashy.

I love this Planned Parenthood location! I've used them a few times over the years after getting off my parents' insurance and during insurance lapses inbetween jobs, always leaving with a good experience. After moving back to the island, I needed a new gynecologist and started shopping around again. I have a medical condition and had disappointing experiences with two separate gynecologist offices (affiliated with the big LI hospital chains), and finally ended up back here. I'm so relieved that I did! Again, nothing but a good experience. I felt like all my questions were answered and all the staff that I encountered had great bedside manner. Will be using this location for all my future gynecological needs.

I had called to come in today last minute due to personal reasons and the gentleman on the phone stated W.islip had walk-ins , it's a far drive but I ended up coming. When I walked in I told the lady at the front that I apologize for not having an appointment if there was any openings , her reply was extremely nasty , she had the worst attitude ! She was trying to think of reasons of what was happening to me so I could just leave ! Very unprofessional and ignorant!! I told her I didn't mean to upset her and her attitude changed. Regardless of the situation, I didn't mind coming back another day I was just hoping I was able to get it out the way. I will NEVER come back !!!

Cari the midwife was one of the best people I've met in a long time. She was a light, and a breath of fresh air in a seemingly stressful situation. She was so professional and thorough and answered every last one of my questions. Never once did I feel rushed or judged or anything less than comfortable.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Added bonus : Even the staff up front was friendly and I waited less than 15 minutes. Would recommend coming here to anyone of my sisters, friends, etc.

Let me start by saying how much I love this place .
I can make an appointment the day of and they can always fit me in . When I first came here I was in distress and very emotional. The staff are very comforting and supportive. I would never go anywhere else . My old gynecologist would never give me enough birth control always filling 3 months then I would have to go back for a check up . This place filled my birth control for the whole year which is how it should be and come back to refil in a year for a yearly check up . They take most insurances . The biggest thing is they can always fit u in . My old place I would have to make an appointment 3 weeks in advance and if u are having an issue and can't wait that long it sucks . This place solves all my problems and I would never go anywhere else ! I want to thank the staff and everyone who keeps this place running u are doing an amazing job !
