Planned Parenthood - Raleigh Health Center

I recently had an IUD insertion at this Planned Parenthood location and had an excellent experience. I'm grateful for the entire staff, as they were kind, gentle, and informative throughout my consultation and procedure visits. Every person I interacted with treated me with respect and answered all my questions, and I had a lot of questions.nScheduling was straightforward. My care provider was comforting while also being honest about what to expect during the procedure (which I appreciate, even if I'll definitely opt for sedation next time!)nI'm deeply grateful for the quality care I received and would highly recommend this facility to anyone. I went to planned parenthood because I was new in town and could not wait to be seen at a different OBGYN to replace my IUD.nnUnfortunately my experience wasn’t entirely great. It took them around 5 tries to get the IUD in, as the person was not confident that they had placed it correctly. This is a pretty painful process if you do not use anesthesia.nnA month or so later I started experiencing pain in my uterus. I went back to planned parenthood and they had immediately started treating me for STI. I was devastated as I knew there was no way this could’ve happened. It caused a lot of tension between my partner and I. After the round of antibiotics I was given, I was still in pain and discomfort.nnI eventually got a second opinion and was diagnosed with endometritis which is infection in the uterus that can occur after trauma to the uterus (in my case, it was the person at planned parenthood repeatedly trying to insert the IUD.)nnI support the fight behind planned parenthood to provide access to care to those who need it, but I still felt quickly judged and misguided when I needed additional care, and that is not what planned parenthood is about.nnI will say the staff was friendly and the doctors do their best, but I wish I was treated just a little better and was heard more.

I had a great experience here! I'm in town for a while caring for a relative and needed care for myself due to timing. I reached out to providers I had seen in the past and was told they were not taking new patients or could see me in about 4 months. I booked an appointment easily online here and was seen within a week.nEVERYONE working there was friendly, professional, caring, knowledgeable, and helpful! 10/10. The facility was clean and well organized. I would recommend for well care visits and other needed procedures/visits.nThis is a high volume practice that offers a range of services and takes anyone as a patient despite the provider shortage that exists everywhere. You can choose to wait patiently in the waiting room for an hour or you can wait for several months at home or not receive care. The choice is yours. This was well worth my hour :).
