I have to share my experience, in case there is someone else out there that was in my position where it could make it a difference. Dr Blauer makes his recommendations after performing an an Ovarian Assessment Report (OAR). The OAR is a fertility test that assesses a woman's remaining egg supply and predicts her response to ovarian stimulation. It combines age and hormone levels (like AMH, FSH, and inhibin B) to calculate an Egg Retrieval Score (ERS), ranging from 1 to 20. This score helps predict the number of eggs that might be retrieved during IVF.nnEvery fertility clinic will collect your AMH and FSH to properly consult you on a care plan. The OAR only takes your age into consideration and then spits out a score based on certain calculations.nnI took this test twice and both times the report gave me an egg supply score of 1. This was disheartening news and Dr. Blauer's professional advice was for me to skip egg retrieval altogether and go the egg donor route. He also said that in his long history of practicing IVF, he has never seen anyone be successful at having a baby with an egg supply score of 1. This was heartbreaking news to think that I could not have a baby with my own egg.nnAfter a lot of thought and consideration over what's best for my family, my husband and I decided to get another opinion and we moved over to UFC.nnUFC does not require the OAR report. They shared that they can provide probabilities based on my AMH, FSH and age alone. They were very transparent with me in that the likelihood of me having a live birth would be 15%. My doctor also shared with me that if I were 43, she might have given me the same advice as Dr. Blauer. But given that I was only 40, she would advise for me to try.nnWe were able to retrieve FOUR eggs, and of those 4 eggs, we were able to produce 2 very healthy embryos (4AB and 4BB). I am 10 weeks pregnant now, due in December.nnI can't imagine how different things would be had I taken Dr. Blauer's advice. I hope that he takes this feedback into consideration as it could certainly make a difference in how it shapes one's future..
