Review of Seattle Reproductive Medicine from Tasha Hood
I've worked with 3 different fertility clinics, and unfortunately SRM fell far below our expectations.\n\nWe were with this clinic for a little over a year before we sought care elsewhere. In that year I met with my assigned doctor (Dr. Mazur) ONE time. The first few months at this clinic were not so bad, but then we started noticing short staffing issues, lapses in their communication, and a poor quality of care.\n\nI did 4 medicated rounds of IUI with SRM. At every appointment my uterine lining showed as being very thin. I tried multiple times to address this with staff and my nurse - asking them to please check my progesterone levels, offer progesterone treatments, etc. Each time I was essentially told that it "wasn't necessary" and my request for testing was declined. On my final appointment, while in the middle of my ultrasound, one of the techs asked why they "hadn't looked at switching my medication protocol?" Not only did they refuse to check my progesterone levels - but come to find out that the clomid I was on has an occasional side effect that causes thin uterine lining. Not once during 4 months of back to back IUIs did any doctor catch this or offer to switch up my medication(s) after I had repeatedly expressed concern.\n\nDespite feeling defeated we decided to try one more round of IUI. I asked my nurse to please refill my medications, and was informed that our doctor was on vacation and could not authorize the refill on medications until he returned. This was a time sensitive request. After 4 or 5 days went by with no refills I started to panic - I left multiple voicemails and sent portal messages with no resolution. I asked if they could have another provider authorize the refills while my doctor was out of town and was told "no." Finally, after being left in the dark for days, I sent a message requesting a transfer of care to a different clinic. Magicially, within the hour and the day before I was due to start another round of meds, my phone rang. SRM said they could now send over refills to my pharmacy. I told them not to bother, and I never returned. I have since gone to another clinic (Think Fertility in Bellevue - which I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend).\n\nOverall, I feel that we were just bled for our money and we certainly didn't receive the attention or care we deserved. I would encourage anyone looking for a fertility specialist to search elsewhere.\n\n(Also, please note that my experience excludes the front desk staff at SRM. The front desk staff were always warm, welcoming, and were overall wonderful to work with).\n\nUPDATE: my new clinic checked my progesterone levels - shocker: my progesterone levels were incredibly low (just like I thought). Since coming off of the clomid and starting a new medication protocol with a different clinic my uterine lining has DOUBLED and is now well within normal range. There's no excuse for SRM not catching either of these issues, especially after I brought them to their attention repeatedly.

The clinic was beautiful, and some of the staff were nice. I did like the LBGTQ friendly environemnt. However, some staff just give you blanket statements that indicate they don't actually understand what you're doing to track your ovulation cycle. When I tried to tell them that one medication didn't work fpr me, they just told me "it did work." At the end of the day, we didn't feel like inividuals, but rather got told what our experience was.

They care about numbers. This is true of most fertility clinics (I worked with several), but they are not incentivized to have your best interest at heart and they are understaffed. The doctors in particular are distant and really do not care about you or your dreams, despite what the marketing says. It’s like working with Amazon to try and make your dreams come true. There aren’t really other good options, but before you work with SRM or its competitors, you should at least know that the doctors truly don’t care..

I’m not a patient of this clinic but my friend is. She was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and was recommended this clinic by her oncologist for fertility options.\nThis was obviously time sensitive and every day counts. Choosing between starting lifesaving chemo now, when she needs it or postponing chemo for the possibility of being able to have kids in future is not easy. None of these procedures guarantees success but it’s the last hope of saving her embryo/ eggs before chemo can destroy them permanently.\nAs you can imagine this is already stressful situation for everyone included and these choices are not made easily but as my friend was recommended this clinic from a doctor she trusts, she thought she is in good hands and will give it a try even when it means risking possible complications with her cancer.\nDr. Lin was her doctor in this fertility clinic and I cannot believe the absolute incompetence and unprofessional behavior from everyone working at that clinic. She was waiting for days from her clinic to answers simple questions about her procedures via email or phone. Dr Lin being gone from clinic without any warning and nobody could tell her when he’s coming back to sign her medical paperwork. This was unfortunately dragging for weeks and weeks until my friend had to make the hardest decision in her life to give up on the fertility options completely and start her chemo.\nThis was absolutely devastating to watch even as a bystander and friend and I hope anyone in future who has similar situation will not waste their time and skip this clinic completely..

I had two embryos transferred to SRM location with the closure of ORM Bellevue location. At ORM I had three embryos at very similar rating and all passed the genetic screening, ORM made one embryo transfer and it was successful. As the most difficult part has been done, I didn't expect future FET with SRM would be much of a pain. My doctor is Dr Criniti who has a high rating at Fertility IQ. The first meeting was virtual and she asked about if I'd like to keep a same medication protocol since it worked well for me once or try a new one which is oral pills no injection. I choose to kept the same protocol to avoid unexpected challenges. However, the medication calendar and ordered meds were oral ones not the injection one I chose and they arrived to me the day I should start taking. There was no time to change unless I start another cycle. With the trust in Dr Criniti I followed the protocol anyway but I felt terrible after the medication, severe mood swings and blush, neither of them happened before. On the transfer day, I met the doctor for the first time in person, she gave me a photo of the embryo, it was oval and didn't look rehydrated. Dr Criniti made the transfer and it failed. I had one more embryo left, so I decided to give another try. In meeting with Dr Criniti, we confirmed that this time be sure to follow my old injection protocol. However, when I received the calendar, I was shocked. The dose of injection was twice of the one at ORM, plus oral pills were still listed on the calendar, time to take Doxycycline was weeks before the transfer. I'm not clinically trained but it didn't make any sense with comparison to my succeed FET calendar and a little google. I don't understand why it's so hard to follow my earlier meds protocol which I already shared with Dr Criniti. I called the nurse Amy to talk to Dr Criniti about the calendar, however, she said I had to wait weeks until Dr Criniti have availability and the list pills on the calendar was a mistake, if I insist to ask Dr Criniti explant the calendar will result me missing this cycle. I felt the doctor is only there to talk but agreement and decision of the conversion means nothing and they will not put into reaction. The calendar was generated by very inexperienced nurse with limited medical knowledge. Questions will only be briefly paraphrased by the nurse from the doctor. To talk to the doctor you have to wait like a new patient..
