Dr Lighten specialises in fertility treatments including IVF & fertility surgery. He has 30 years of experience in treating patients in fertility clinics in the UK, Ireland and Australia.
He is doubly qualified as both a medical doctor and a science PhD. With a strong science background, Dr Lighten bases all his treatments on the most up to date scientific evidence.
Dr Lighten is an experienced fertility surgeon specialising in complex surgical procedures which improve the chance of both spontaneous pregnancy and pregnancy after IVF. He performs advanced laparoscopic surgery for endometriosis and hysteroscopic surgery for intra-uterine problems at Norwest Private Hospital.
Outside of medicine, Dr Lighten enjoys ski touring and cycling. He represented Great Britain at the Junior World Rowing Championship. He also represented the University of London and Cambridge University (Reserve Goldie Crew) at Rowing. He was a reservist medical officer in the British Army for 12 years, serving with the Parachute Regiment. Dr Lighten also worked as a Management Consultant for McKinsey and Co during a break from medical practice.
