ISIDA clinic obstetricians-gynecologists participated in non-directive counseling training
The success of treatment largely depends on the level of trust between the doctor and the patient. The level of medical service and care for psychological state of everyone who seek help in ISIDA are among the most important priorities of the clinic. Therefore, ISIDA clinic pays special attention to the psychological preparation of specialists for counseling patients, providing them with an opportunity to regularly improve the level of qualifications via participation in various workshops, national and international congresses and symposia.
On December 14, 2018, ISIDA held a special training dedicated to the “Methods of non-directive counseling” under the guidance of experienced lecturers Alexander Shkil and Sergey Ostapenko. This is the first course of many planned training activities of this kind for ISIDA clinic staff. In the nearest future, the second group of obstetrician-gynecologists of the outpatient department will attend the similar training.
With what expectations does a patient turn for consultation with a doctor? Is it possible to avoid directive counseling and engage patient in active listening? At this training course, ISIDA specialists received answers to these and other questions, reviewed briefing techniques of the consultation, improved their skills in dealing with emotional objections and claims of the patients. Realizing the importance of the topic and the responsibility put on them, all the workshop participants engaged themselves in active work and asked many questions, recalling situations from personal medical practice.
