2. What are the inclusion criteria designed for Surrogacy with Egg Donation programs?
The intended mother’s oocytes won’t be used for ICSI/IMSI/PISCI Embryo Generation ‘event’, thus, there are no inclusion criteria set for the intended mother. The inclusion criteria are designed only for the intended father as his sperm will be used in ICSI/IMSI/PISCI. The intended father’s sperm will be collected into a special mini–tube created for a sperm sample called a semen collection vial. After the sperm is collected, the mini–tube with the semen sample will be transferred to the laboratory for Semen Analysis. Semen Analysis ‘validates’ the sperm vitality, motility, morphology, and chromosomal configuration. The intended father’s semen sample’s volume must be not less than 1.5 milliliters with a minimum of 5 million sperm cells’ concentration per milliliter. The sperm cells used for ICSI/IMSI/PISCI are screened for damaged DNA structures (DNA fragmentation test), chromosomal rearrangements (sperm karyotype test), and ‘disabled’ genomes (whole genome sequencing screening technique or molecular karyotyping by array–comparative genomic hybridization screening technique, etc.). Only normal sperm cells are used for fertilization.
The sperm cells with disrupted ‘configuration’: damaged DNA structures, chromosomal rearrangements, ‘disabled’ genomes cannot be used for ICSI/IMSI/PISCI. The intended father’s sperm sample’s specific ‘characteristics’ for being used for ICSI/IMSI/PISCI:
- normal semen volume correlates between 1.5—5.0 milliliters (ml). For ICSI/IMSI/PISCI it should be at least 1.5 ml.
- normal sperm count (Sperm Concentration) correlates between 15 million—300 million sperm per milliliter of semen. For ICSI/IMSI/PISCI the Sperm Concentration should be at least 5 million sperm per milliliter.
- sperm with normal morphological ‘features’ (sperm cells shaped like streamlined tadpoles with long tails and normal–sized heads) concentration should be not less than 13.5% per ml.
- progressive sperm motility (moving sperm) correlates between 32%—92% per one ejaculate. For ICSI/IMSI/PISCI at least 15% of motile sperm should be found per one ejaculate.
- normal sperm karyotype (normal chromosomal configuration) to exclude the risk of transmitting inherited diseases.
