Astra Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) unit is currently the one and only Independent Health facility in Ontario offering a full range of expert minimally invasive gynaecological procedures. Astra MIS unit has been a successful model that provides OHIP funded ambulatory surgical care to women in an out of the hospital environment, thereby shortening wait times, providing quality patient care, achieving high client satisfaction, and lowering health costs. All nursing staff possess years of experience and are registered nurses (RNs and RPNs) who are certified to work at Ontario community hospitals. The entire sterilization staff is highly skilled and certified. Our surgeons are certified gynaecologists with vast experience in gynaecologic and endoscopic procedures and in reproductive surgery. THE SPACE: Astra Minimally Invasive Surgery Unit occupies a three story building at 4296 Village Centre Court, Mississauga, Ontario. The main floor is allocated to reception, OR suite and recovery area (Four recovery beds), two washrooms and scrubbing area. The suite is connected to an HVAC system and a power generator. The suite represents state-of-the-art design and equipment. The basement is allocated to sterilization and processing of equipment in addition to a chemistry lab while the second level is for storage of supplies, accounting and administrative staff offices in addition to a change room, meeting room and eating area.
