Investigation and treatment of infertility at the University of Debrecen, “in vitro” fertilization (IVF) interventions - the so-called flask baby program, looking back on a history of nearly 3 decades. In the early days, it operated as the Infertility Working Group of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and from 2003 onwards, with expanded capacity, it provided IVF treatments as an institution under the leadership of a private provider for 15 years.

As of January 2018, the Assisted Reproduction Center, under the direct supervision of the Clinical Center, operates as an independent unit, currently with 3 specialists and a trained, experienced team of professionals, utilizing the university’s internationally renowned diagnostic and scientific capacity.

The government’s decision at the end of 2019 significantly expanded support for assisted reproductive interventions. He made the examination and treatment of infertility virtually free of charge, concentrating the care in accredited infertility centers, so that the infertile couples waiting for it could get a child's blessing quickly and efficiently at the highest professional level, using the least burdensome method.

In 2018, the University of Debrecen established a very high-quality Embryology and Andrology Laboratory, also measured by the government through a billion-dollar instrument acquisition, measured on an international scale, with the help of the Assisted Reproduction Center to meet the needs of couples expecting children . Without human resources, continuously developed professional knowledge, and sympathetic, direct support from patients, there is no success, and modern technical tools are powerless.

Even after the change in the management of the institute, one of the basic goals is to preserve and further strengthen this principle of ours. Knowledge of domestic and international recommendations, the use of the results of evidence-based medicine in everyday practice, the application of new, individualized treatment protocols, and continuous quality control also contribute to the complete satisfaction of our patients' ever-fulfilling desire for children.
