The iui procedure requires ovulation, at least one open fallopian tube, and a semen sample containing healthy sperm. Each iui operation is called a cycle, which includes the first day of menstruation until ovulation, insemination, and then a pregnancy test two weeks later. The steps for doing iui are usually as follows:

Egg production: The ovaries produce eggs in several ways. Your doctor may suggest a non-stimulating ovulation cycle that does not use fertility drugs, or may recommend taking fertility drugs at the beginning of menstruation so that the ovaries produce more than one adult egg when stimulated by the drug. ; Female ovaries usually release one egg each month.

Determining the time of ovulation: Inoculation of sperm into the uterus should be done at a specific time relative to the time of ovulation. For this purpose, the doctor must be able to determine the time of ovulation. In some cases, your doctor may order an injection of hcg to release the egg at a specific time. Egg release usually occurs 36 hours after injection. Some doctors perform iui 24 to 48 hours after the hcg injection.

Sperm washing: On the day of iui surgery, the man must give a sample of sperm, which is given in the washing laboratory. This causes more resistant sperm to accumulate in a small amount of fluid.

Sperm Inoculation: Your doctor transfers more resistant sperm directly through the cervix through a long, narrow tube, or catheter. This is usually painless, but some women experience mild muscle cramps after doing so. Inoculation of sperm into the uterus takes only a few minutes.

Pregnancy test: About two weeks after the sperm is injected into the uterus, a pregnancy test is performed.

After performing iui, the woman can easily go home that evening. Sexual intercourse after iui is recommended to ensure that there is enough sperm at the time of ovulation.
