Procedures done in the department

IUI (intrauterine insemination).

Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is a process in which the washed sperms are placed directly into the uterus with the help of a thin catheter. IUI is an OPD (outpatient department) procedure in which neither anesthesia nor hospitalization is required. Ovulation is confirmed by ultrasound and once it is done, the partner is asked to collect the semen in a sterile container. It takes about 45 minutes to an hour to process the semen sample. A thin tube called IUI catheter is introduced in the uterus & the processed semen sample is slowly released in the uterus. Luteal phase support is given and pregnancy is confirmed fifteen days later by a simple blood test. This is well performed in our fertility clinic.

IVF/ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection).

IVF stands for in vitro fertilization. It refers to the process in which a woman’s eggs are collected and later fertilized outside her womb in the laboratory.
