When a couple regularly has unprotected sex, there is a good chance that a pregnancy will develop within a year. However, there are also couples where unfortunately no pregnancy occurs. About 15% of Dutch couples visit a GP at some point because of the absence of a pregnancy. Ultimately, 10% of these couples are referred to a specialist.
The Center for Reproductive Medicine of the MUMC + is investigating the cause of the absence of a pregnancy. Using the results of this study, the probability that a pregnancy will still occur in the coming year is calculated. On the basis of this chance, it is determined whether a fertility treatment will be started immediately or whether there is still some time to wait. The choice for a possible fertility treatment depends on your specific situation.
