After initial thorough medical consultation, a list of routine lab tests is ordered. These can be performed aboard and include tests like HIV, HBsAg, HCV, complete blood count, coagulation studies and more. Based on the specific clinical situation, a treatment protocol is thoroughly considered with the couple. Treatment can be initiated abroad, limiting the time to be spent close to the clinic.
